How Now Playing Finds Artwork
How Now Playing locates album art: embedded tags, local files, Rekordbox library, online sources, and the fallback chain when nothing matches.
Now Playing 2 has many ways it tries to find album artwork. It varies between each DJ software. This post will help you understand the priority order.
- 1) Artwork from Rekordbox's database that is on that computer.
- 2) Artwork from Beatport / Beatport Link
- 3) Artwork from Discogs
- 4) Your default artwork
- 5) The Now Playing logo
- 1) Artwork embedded the media MP3/WAV/AIFF file

Currently ProDJ-Link does not pull album art directly from the media file.
It is technically possible to transfer artwork from the USB/SD card or from Rekordbox Link Export but during testing the file transfer was very slow (30+ seconds for an MP3, even longer for a WAV / AIFF).
So for now Now Playing 2 doesn't support read artwork directly from the USB stick in your CDJ. Instead if the Rekordbox database is on the same computer as Now Playing it will try to use that.
